Bishop Dunne
is also committed to the development of a strong community. Therefore,
we extend many of our programs to students from Catholic elementary
schools throughout Dallas.
Emotional Support
We approach
all students and their concerns from a well-rounded perspective. It
is difficult, if not impossible, for learning to take place when the
student is spending energy on emotional concerns that extend beyond
the classroom.
Any student
or parent can request a visit with their Guidance Counselor. Emotional
support means that we provide brief and short term counseling sessions
or consultations. The goal is to assist in the removal of emotional
or social obstacles that interfere with the learning process. In situations
where long-term interventions are required, the use of outside services
is recommended. Issues frequently presented in Guidance include:
Divorce
Peer Conflict
Blended Families
Study Skills / Organization
Sadness / Loneliness
Stress
Learning Differences
Coping Strategies
