Bishop Dunne Tennis Team
Spring 2008

Practice will be held at Kiest Tennis Center (2324 W. Kiest Blvd.). Bus service (the St. Monica’s route) will be available from Bishop Dunne, but you must be on time (3:20 departure). Bus service will not be available after practice, and you must arrange for your parents/guardian to pick you up at Kiest Tennis Center at 5:30. Permission slips must be returned to Coach Dies before the season begins. Practices will last from 3:30-5:30 on designated days. You must change into practice attire at school, not at Kiest Tennis Center!

Matches are scheduled on weekdays, and may last until 6:00-6:30, depending on start time. Please remember that in a JV/V situation, Varsity matches usually play first, then JV matches begin when the courts clear. Matches are scheduled both for Home (Kiest Tennis Center) and Away. Please be flexible with scheduling. Rain/ drizzle has a significant impact on our ability to play on the courts, and weather may be a frequent cause of rescheduling. Students should listen to the announcements at school and check in daily with Coach Dies in Rm. 413 if they have questions about practice/ matches.

Required Equipment:
Tennis Shoes (preferably designated Tennis)
Tennis Racket
Practice clothes: no cut-offs, tank tops, inappropriate t-shirts, skirts w/out tennis shorts

Match uniform:

JV: Boys: Navy Blue athletic shorts w/ pockets, BDHS t-shirt
Girls: Navy Blue tennis shorts or skirt w/ pockets, BDHS t-shirt

Varsity: Boys: Navy Blue shorts w/ pockets, White/Navy Team shirt
Girls: Red/White Reversible Shirt, Red/White Team skirt
(Varsity uniforms to be ordered through Coach Dies; payment by
check made to Bishop Dunne Catholic High School, ATTN: Tennis)

Optional: Bishop Dunne Team wristbands and headbands are
available on order from Coach Dies.

New Players: For those players interested in tennis, but at the beginner level, you are welcome to join us for practice, and then determine if you wish to pursue the sport. Tennis is a life-long sport, and because of this, the Bishop Dunne Tennis Team has a no-cut policy. However, due to limited court space and opponent team size, not everyone will play on designated game days. Match players will be determined by Challenge Matches held during the practice prior to each match. Please note that players with numerous practice absences will not be considered for matches. If you have questions regarding match rosters, please contact Coach Dies.

Please remember, all eligibility requirements apply! Keep your grades up! Players are welcome to attend Coach Dies’ study hall on Tuesday mornings, and Friday mornings.
