Text Box: Every kid dreams of having a BMW, Mercedes-Benz, or Cadillac, right? The new rides of 2008 are something us kids will have to keep dreaming about. Luxury car companies like Mercedes-Benz and Cadillac have the 2008 car models lined up and ready to go. Many consumers say they don’t like the new cars, but why?
“I don’t really like any of the new cars because they are trying to make them small and less powerful, [like] hybrids, you know?” says sophomore Moises Hernandez.

Text Box: We all know second semester is the perfect time to “start fresh” academically since grades all begin with a clean slate. And what could be more important than focusing on school? What about focusing on your life?
“Absolutely nothing is more important than getting good grades and going to college,” a small handful of you reading this may be thinking. But the majority of you readers are thinking, “Friends, family, and/or fun! Life is too short to slave away my precious time at school.”
“Knowing/Finding who I truly am…” this thought probably crossed not one of your pretty little heads. That’s okay; it’s not a high priority in this superficial society, especially not in your life, right?
Now, many of you who are content with your lifestyle are thinking something like, “My life is good/great/fine/perfect; I know who I am. What are you talking about?!”
Don’t get me wrong; I’m definitely not here to offend anyone. I learn something new each day and question whether I really believe certain ideas or if I’m just accepting what I have been taught by parents, teachers, and peers.
I want to be my own person with my own individual thoughts, so ask yourself, “Who am I?” But wait! Before you answer, make sure you are not about to reiterate a phrase you’ve heard or how someone else (mom, dad, sibling, friend, enemy) has described you.
Think for yourself… Did you just depict yourself as a “good” person, only listing attributes in your head? If you did, that’s not who you are.
First, admit your “flaws.” Next, and this is the hard part, examine yourself. Seems easy, huh? Not quite… to know why you say what you say and how you say it, to know why you do what you Text Box: do and how you do it, to know what you think and believe and why you think and believe what you do, this takes a lifetime.
“The unexamined life is not worth living,” Socrates once said, and it is so true. Once you know who you really are, you can begin to live life to its fullest. Problems seem smaller and easier to overcome when you know who you are and what you believe; the good things in life become highlighted in your mind and appreciated much more, as well as finding an inspiring light in even the darkest shadows.
So, when are you going to find yourself? Why not start searching now?
