Help
for Darfur
"If you have seen the news over the last couple of
years, you know that there is a crisis situation in Darfur. You may have
wondered how you can help. This is your chance. Beginning tomorrow, we
will be collecting simple school supplies: unsharpened #2 pencils, simple
sharpeners, colored pencils, erasers—things we take for granted
every day. These will be sent over to the refugee camps in Chad to help
students your age rebuild their lives through education. Many of these
kids have only known war throughout their lives, and they really can
use your help. You may also want to bring new and un-inflated soccer
balls, new world maps, art paper, or other items that can easily be carried
over to Chad. These items will be given to Mr. Wilson’s brother-in-law,
a St. Elizabeth alumnus, who is a medical student and will be making
the trip. Bring your donations to rooms 406 or 407 between now and December
14. If you wish to send letters to some of these students, see Mr. Wilson
or Ms. Boarman who have the information."
